Dr. De León  graduated from the University of Panama, School of Medicine in 1992.  Between 1996 and 2000, she trained as a general psychiatrist at Baylor College of Medicine in the Houston Medical Center.  During her last year, she was appointed Chief Resident of Psychiatry.  Between 1998 and 2000, she undertook the two year training course in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute, and between 2000 and 2002 she trained as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at  the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, in Baylor College of Medicine.

She returned to Panama in 2002.  Shortly thereafter, Dr. De León envisioned the possibility of establishing a first-rate team of professionals in order to approach the very unique needs of children and patients in an integrated and more encompassing manner.  On March 2008, she and her team opened The Bridge Center.

Susana De León is a member of the Panamanian Society of Psychiatrists, the American Psychiatric Society, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology  (2012), and has medical license in Panamá and the State of Texas (USA).  She is known as an expert in Attention Deficit Disorder and Disorders of the Autism Spectrum, as well as a dedicated psychotherapist for patients of all ages and cultural backgrounds. She continues to be dedicated clinician, and is a regular supporter of schools and numerous organizations as an expert on the mental and emotional health of children.  She is married and has two sons. She also has participated in TV shows and has authored  articles in magazines and  newspaper that raise awareness about psychological issues and needs of the children.
